Reproductive and Women’s Rights

Reproductive rights are under attack by Republicans across the country, with repressive and repugnant laws being passed in state after state. Health care decisions – particularly around family planning – should remain between a patient and their doctor. The Reproductive Health Act took an important step in codifying Roe v. Wade into our state law, but we must go further in expanding access to reproductive health care of all kinds. A woman should be able to choose when and if to have children. As your Assemblymember, Grace will defend a woman’s right to make her own decisions regarding her body.

Community-based services for women’s health care is essential to strengthening a neighborhood. In addition to providing preventative health care services and advanced screening, local clinics and drop-in centers expand access for women in underserved areas who would be unable to receive care. As your Assemblymember, Grace will continue to advocate for increased funding for community-based care.

All employees should be compensated equally for equal work. We are beyond debating the morality of equal pay for women doing the same substantive job as men, and now it is time to ensure equal pay is carried out in practice.

City and State contracting opportunities are incredibly beneficial for local businesses, and Grace supports the expansion of contracting goals for Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBE). Despite ambitious goals by the state, the amount of money awarded to MWBE’s is minuscule compared to other contractors. By streamlining the process of registering companies as MWBE’s through outreach and the use of digital approval processes, we will increase the universe of MWBEs who are eligible for contracts.
